“Gemma is a master when it comes to voice, dialects and in my case, languages. I had 2 roles in a touring production of ‘breaking the code’. 1 required a 1940s Mancunian accent and the other was a Greek man who only spoke Greek, which I couldn’t speak a word of prior. I was stressed at the prospect of having only 5 weeks to prepare, but Gemma made me feel so confident. I couldn’t believe the progress we made. A Greek member of the audience one night actually asked me whereabouts in Greece I came from. That is all down to the specificity and care of Gemma. I will be keeping in contact for any future roles that require difficult accents or languages. I also now hold her as a dear friend. Could not recommend her enough.”

Breaking The Code, 2025

“At the start of opening 1 out of 3 shows in a demanding rep season (two of which were musicals), I was already losing my voice after every two performances. I’d rest, recover just enough to go back on and then lose it again. I was really worried about the state of my vocal health so the theatre had booked me a vocal massage, which helped temporarily, however the issue kept coming back. I didn’t understand what was going wrong and I honestly wish I had contacted Gemma sooner.

After only one session she helped me understand my voice, what it needed, and how to recover when it was fatigued. I also gained so much more vocal awareness and skill, which has made a huge difference going forward. I went from barely having a voice to being able to manage the load and actually sustain it. Can I also note, this was all done via video chat, while I had bad signal in the Highlands!

Gemma is so caring, calm, and has an incredible amount of knowledge and insight. That alone eased so much of the stress I was carrying about my voice. She made me feel reassured and supported at a time when I really needed it.

Her guidance truly saved my voice — I genuinely don’t think I would’ve made it through the season without her help.”

“Gemma is incredible. One of the best.

She was instrumental in helping me in Breaking the Code at Northampton. I needed to play a stutter and wanted to master this in a way that felt truthful at all times and fitted in with a naturalistic, character-lead rehearsal process.

Gemma was meticulously precise, thoroughly prepared, and laser sharp in her observations. She was also totally open and adaptable. She always made sure I was comfortable and felt supported.

I can’t recommend Gemma highly enough. I hope we get to work together again soon.”

Breaking the Code – 2025

“I worked with Gemma recently when she was a voice coach on a show i was in. I had to do a very particular accent. My character lived in the 1950’s and was from south Manchester, Wilmslow/Stockport to be precise. I had already done some work on it but once I started to work with Gemma my confidence skyrocketed. Gemma found lots of different authentic clips we could be inspired by and was excellent at helping me place the accent in my mouth. Gemma’s positive energy is infectious and I always left each voice session imbued with more ideas and confidence but also specific aspects to work on. Her approach was personal and persistent but also, and this is the most important, fun! I would highly recommend working with Gemma and would go back to her if I was ever struggling with a particular accent.

Later on in the job I was experiencing some pain in my right leg. Partly due to arthritis, partly due to working on a raked stage. It turns out that Gemma is equally blessed as a massage therapist so I had a session with her. Much like her voice work the approach was personal and holistic. Gemma listened carefully to what I had to say but then listened to what my body had to say. Her approach was targeted and thoughtful. She explained throughout the session what she was working on and why. I found this refreshing and felt revitalised, invigorated and armed with more awareness of my own body by the end of the session.

Gemma is clearly someone who is incredibly knowledgeable in both fields she practices and I would work with her in a heart beat in either of those fields.”

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Gemma on several productions at Royal & Derngate, most recently The Jolly Christmas Postman and Breaking the Code. Her support has been invaluable – she brings a calm, collaborative energy into the room and equips actors with practical tools that make a clear difference in vocal delivery and dialect work. I always trust Gemma to get on with the job with professionalism and sensitivity, and we’ve had excellent feedback from every cast she has supported. Creatively, she balances a strong grasp of detail with a generous and encouraging approach, which both actors and directors have found hugely supportive. Gemma’s work has helped us achieve clarity, consistency and confidence across productions, and she has been an asset to our teams every time.

“I can’t say enough good things about Gemma. She took the time to explain the different pains I was experiencing and how my posture was affecting my body. She relieved so much tension and discomfort, but the highlight was her teaching me deep breathing techniques for anxiety — something I didn’t expect from a massage appointment and truly appreciated. She goes above and beyond!

I would highly recommend”

“Gemma’s massage was epic. She worked brilliantly on my hamstring and shoulder injuries and I walked out feeling looser, lighter and properly fixed. Really knowledgeable, intuitive and effective — highly recommended.”
